Our Fall 2024 Climate Change Symposium “Clean Energy” is sponsored by The Coalition for Adapting to Climate Change in Del Mar. The event is made possible by a grant from The Del Mar Foundation and generous donations from anonymous Del Mar Residents. While all are welcome, the carefully designed program and topics covered will be of most interest to residents as they speak to specifics for Del Mar. Engaging and well-known speakers have been brought in to offer insights into the changes we see happening today as well as those that have been forecast for the future.
In Del Mar, we are fortunate to be surrounded by the natural beauty of the ocean, the beaches, historic sandstone bluffs, two beautiful lagoons, wetlands, and the rare Torrey Pine trees. Bordered by the San Dieguito Lagoon on the north and Los Penasquitos on the south, we are home to many species of native plants, wildlife, and aquatic life.
Among these rarities, the indigenous people as well as the residents who have lived here for years, can see the signs of change. Things are changing in subtle and some not-so-subtle ways. These ongoing ecological symposiums are designed to give residents an insider’s view into what the changes are, what they mean and what we can expect for the future and most importantly, what things we can do to be sure we are prepared for coming changes.
The Coalition for Adapting to Climate Change in Del Mar is an organization comprised of local residents interested in providing education, advocacy and action to address impact of climate change in our community.
